The Naval Surface Warfare Center Indian Head Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technology Division has awarded new funding to the Sierra Nevada Corp. (SNC) in support of the Joint Service Explosive Ordnance Disposal Counter Radio Controlled Improvised Explosive Device Electronic Warfare program.
The funding specifically provides for support of the AN/PLT-5 “Thor II” man-portable explosives countermeasure system.
The $30,995,905 award is a modification to a previously awarded firm-fixed-price, cost-plus-fixed-fee, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract (N00174-09-D-0003) to extend the ordering period and exercise Option Year 6 for the procurement.
The Thor II AN/PLT-5 is one of SNC’s Electronic Warfare and Range Instrumentation (EWR) solutions. SNC’s EWR product lines are currently supporting numerous United States military contingencies worldwide and protecting first responders against Radio Controlled Improvised Explosive Devices.
Work will be performed in Rancho, California, and is expected to be completed by March 2018.
