The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) is conducting market research to determine the availability of qualified vendors with the technical capability to manage and administer research and technical assistance related to severe accidents in nuclear power plants.
Specific activities include:
- Conducting research in severe accident phenomena, in particular, those phenomena where residual uncertainties remain in light of Fukushima, and in reduction of uncertainties to address high priority Near-Term Task Force (NTTF) recommendations
- Providing technical assistance to the NRC related to post Fukushima safety and severe accident research
- Developing and maintaining a repository of knowledge based documents related to severe accident research.
Services are to be provided to the NRC in Rockville, Maryland. Organizations responding to this market survey should have in-depth knowledge of NRC’s regulatory requirements in relation to nuclear reactor safety, and knowledge and experience in conducting safety research having direct applications to NRC’s safety mission.
