RADIAC Radioisotope Identification Device

The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division (NSWCCD) is requesting proposals for technologies to support the Radiation Detection, Indication and Computation (RADIAC) Program.

RADIAC provides accurate, reliable radiation monitoring, identification and search instruments to ensure the radiological safety of Navy personnel. This includes hand-held RADIAC meters, personnel dose measurement devices, area monitors used to measure radiation fields and identification devices.

The effort seeks to improve radioisotope identification device (RID) capabilities. RIDs are portable battery operated spectroscopic instruments used to identify any radioisotopes present and provide additional situational awareness in potentially dangerous scenarios.

The NSWCCD Radiation Technology Group (RTG) intends to award contracts to provide three state-of-the-art Radioisotope Identification Devices from three different vendors for test and evaluation.

Further details are available via Solicitation Number: N65540-14-T-5031. The response deadline is Dec. 09, 2014.
