Tracerco, part of the Johnson Matthey group, has added to its range of radiation monitors with a family of Personal Electronic Dosimeters (PEDs).
The PED-IS can be used to measure radiation exposure in potentially explosive environments (Intrinsically Safe), making it ideal for use globally by the emergency services, the oil and gas industry, and in nuclear, medical and mining environments.
Everything on the dosimeter has been designed with the user in mind, including the intuitive software, DoseVision, which makes it ideal for users who are not specially trained to measure radiation exposure.
Featuring the same unique user interface as the PED-IS, the PED Blue has a 10% weight saving and the device can be charged with a direct micro USB connection, so there is no need for a charging dock. With DoseVision software, the PED Blue is aimed at first responders, for use in medical and life sciences, nuclear and industrial environments and in Non-Destructive Testing (NDT).
The PED+ has several additional functions, most notably its ability to serve as a personal dosimeter and as a handheld dose rate survey meter. This off-body mode, which can be easily selected through the devices menu, measures activity through a live trend graph and logged data can be reviewed using DoseVision.
The extended PED monitor range is the latest in a long line of industry-leading technologies from Tracerco. The award winning company revolutionised radiation monitoring when it developed the first ever intrinsically safe contamination and radiation monitor.
“This new range of monitors will allow monitoring activities to be undertaken across a broad range of environments safely, easily and accurately. It is another example of Tracerco listening to the market and developing products that meet industry needs,” said Andy Hurst, Tracero managing director. “What we have achieved through good design and consideration for the users of the device, is a family of Personal Dosimeters with mass market appeal globally. The real selling point of our monitors is that they are easy to use and understand.”
