Operation Tomodachi: Women on the Frontline

The Stimson Center will host a virtual webinar on lessons learned from Operation Tomodachi, the response to the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011, on February 25, 2021.

During the event, co-sponsored by the Embassy of Japan, speakers will share their experiences and perspectives as women who were on the frontline of the search and rescue operations during Operation Tomodachi.

Highlighted speakers include:

• LTC Jasmin Cho, US Army Reserves; Foreign Service Officer, U.S. Department of State
• LTC Satoko Torihata, Staff Officer, Public Affairs Office, Ground Staff Office, Japan Self-Defense Forces
