The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has announced intentions to award a sole source contract to The Continuing Challenge c/o Sacramento Fire Department to provide sponsorship of The Continuing Challenge HazMat Workshop September 5-8, 2017.

This annual conference provides training with a hands-on approach for first responders throughout FEMA Region IX (AR, CA, NV, and Pacific Islands). The Workshop annually has about 800 students who learn how to handle major Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and Explosives (CBRNE) spills not just in a classroom, but also in the field with over 100 instructors.

“The Continuing Challenge is the only source reasonably available to fulfill this requirement under the circumstances because is not offered by another company, organization either private/public in Region IX,” states the announcement. “The most similar training is otherwise located in Baltimore, MD, which would make it very difficult and cost prohibitive to send people from within Region IX.”

Further details are available via Solicitation Number: HSFE09-17-Q-143-106.
