USNS Mercy Arrives in Los Angeles to Assist COVID-19 Response

The Military Sealift Command hospital ship USNS Mercy (T-AH 19) arrived in Los Angeles on March 27, 2020 as part of the federal response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

USNS Mercy will serve as a referral hospital for non-COVID-19 patients currently admitted to shore-based hospitals, freeing up space and healthcare workers inland to focus their efforts on COVID-19 cases.

The UNSN Mercy is now the largest hospital in Los Angeles, noted Mayor Eric Garcetti.
