The United States Air Force has announced intentions to award a sole-source contract to Radiation Detection Company (RDC) for the procurement of 10,000 Thermoluminescent Dosimeter (TLD) Badges.
The badges are required for determining the amount of ionizing radiation personnel are exposed to as a direct result of employment with the USAF. A TLD measures ionizing radiation exposure by measuring the amount of visible light emitted from a crystal in the detector when the crystal is heated. The amount of light emitted is dependent upon the radiation exposure.
The TLD badges are needed to maintain the required viable inventory in the Air Force’s Radiation Dosimetry Program.
RDC is accredited to provide dosimetry services with the National Voluntary Laboratory Accreditation Program (NVLAP) which is part of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). Radiation Detection Company is registered to International Standard ISO 9001:2015.
