Biography

Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG) is a large Department of Defense testing area in Maryland which is historically associated with ordnance testing; however, today it encompasses more than 60 different tenant activities spanning diverse technology areas including:

  • Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosives (CBRNE)
  • Public Health and Medical Research
  • Test and Evaluation
  • Research and Development
  • Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Sensors and Reconnaissance Team (C4ISR)

Tenant groups include:

  • Joint Program Executive Office for Chemical Biological Defense (JPEO-CBD)
  • US Army Research Lab (ARL)
  • US Army Edgewood Chemical Biological Center (ECBC)
  • 20th Support Command (CBRNE)
  • US Army Test and Evaluation Command (ATEC)
  • Aberdeen Test Center (ATC)
  • US Army Medical Research Institute of Chemical Defense (USAMRICD)
  • US Army Research, Development and Engineering Command (RDECOM)
  • US Army Public Health Command (USAPHC)
  • 48th Chemical Brigade, US Army Chemical Materials Agency (CMA)
  • US Army National Ground Intelligence Center (NGIC)
  • US Army Research Institute (ARI)

APG occupies a land area of over 70,000 acres and is composed of two major areas: the northern Aberdeen area and southern Edgewood Area that were combined in 1971.

Man Hospitalized After Exposed to Chemical Element at APG

Officials at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center say one person was transported to the hospital after being exposed to a chemical element at Aberdeen Proving Ground. The person was decontaminated at the base before being transported to the hospital.
