Bertin has expanded its Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) threat detection and identification offerings with the development of a new portable monitor is designed to detect and measure radioactivity in harsh environments.
Two years of research and development led to the launch of the SaphyRAD MS (also called DOM 420 by the French Army).
The system was developed under a contract awarded by the French Defense Procurement Agency.
The SaphyRAD MS searches and locates real-time radioactive sources in the environment and measures contamination on all surfaces. Following a nuclear incident or accident, the system carries out the first checks, particularly on people, equipment and vehicles.
An integrated simulation mode provides realistic training for operators, without using radioactive sources.
The product launch is scheduled for the end of 2018.
