Emerging Areas of Science, Engineering, and Medicine for the Courts: Updating The Reference Manual on Scientific Evidence

The second meeting of the Committee on Emerging Areas of Science, Engineering, and Medicine for the Courts: Identifying Chapters for a Fourth Edition of The Reference Manual on Scientific Evidence will be held on December 1, 2020.

This meeting is expected to be closed in its entirety.

The committee will review the contents of the most recent edition of the Reference Manual of Scientific Evidence, published in 2011 as a joint activity of the Academies and FJC, and  identify areas of science, technology, and medicine that may be candidates for new or updated chapters in a proposed new (fourth) edition of the manual.  The committee will host a workshop in early 2021 to discuss these items.

This ad hoc committee is charged with organizing a workshop, planned for early 2021, to explore emerging issues in science, technology, and medicine that may have implications for the Courts.

The third meeting of the Committee will be held December 14, 2020. This is also planned as a closed meeting.
