ChemBio Terrorism Defense: Detection, Countermeasures and Prevention of Chemical and Biological Threats

We live in a shrinking world. Biological and chemical threats that were once thought to be exotic or outdated have become domestic and rejuvenated. However, despite this recognition we are still largely without effective tools to detect, intervene and/or prevent against intentional release of biological and chemical weapons.
This conference will focus on the application of cutting edge research that is now being applied to develop these new tools. We will bridge in-lab research and model development with real world application of these findings.
Major topic areas will include:
- Novel imaging techniques that follow host response to chemical and biological insults
- Novel approaches to countering antimicrobial resistance
- New detection technologies
- Understanding the problems and advances in agriculture bioterrorism
To enhance the experience and foster professional development of trainees in this field, the 2019 conference will be proceeded by the Gordon Research Seminar (GRS) on Chemical and Biological Terrorism. The GRS is planned by and is for post- and pre-doctoral trainees. The GRS provides an excellent forum for trainees to present and interact in a collegial environment.
