UK CBRN Remediation Services Framework Industry Meeting
The UK Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (Defra) will host a supplier engagement webinar on Wednesday, 20 August 2025 to discuss its forthcoming CBRN Remediation Services Framework—a major procurement initiative valued at £31.2 million including VAT (approx. USD 40.3 million).
This online session will be of particular interest to professionals and researchers working in CBRNE and counter-WMD, as well as industry and academic personnel engaged in individual and collective protection, threat surveillance and detection, security technologies, decision support systems, and frontline responders in emergency management, homeland security, and public safety.
Event Objective
The webinar aims to inform potential suppliers about the scope, provisional specifications, and anticipated requirements for the framework, which will support the UK’s readiness to respond to chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and hazardous materials incidents. It will also provide an opportunity for participants to offer feedback before the tender process begins.
Why This Matters
CBRN and HAZMAT incidents can have far-reaching consequences for public health, the environment, and national security. Building a strong, prequalified supplier base for remediation services ensures the UK can deploy expert, rapid-response capabilities when incidents exceed local resources and expertise.
Key Takeaways for Attendees:
- Overview of the framework’s operational goals and procurement timeline
- Insight into technical and logistical requirements for suppliers
- Engagement opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and specialized service providers
- Understanding the role suppliers will play in contingency remediation and waste management for large-scale or complex contamination events
The final tender notice is scheduled for 5 September 2025, with the contract expected to run from 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2034.
