The Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) has a mission to advance the frontiers of synthetic biology and chemistry, power and energy science, and materials science and to provide definitive solutions to Navy needs in areas of critical deficiencies including sensor and system development.
NRL is a campus-like complex of diverse scientific facilities, with a staff of more than 2,500 researchers, engineers, technicians and support personnel.
